The show must go on.
When Ryan Seacrest departs Live with Kelly and Ryan on April 14, he can expect a lot of the unexpected. At least, that is according to co-host Kelly Ripa.
"We have a lot of surprises," Kelly exclusively told E! News' Carolina Bermudez on the red carpet for Lifetime and Variety's Power of Women 2023 event. "We initially thought that we would do seven days of roasting Ryan, but we're not going to completely roast him. I can't tell you, but we have great surprises."
But does she have a game plan for husband Mark Consuelos once he takes over as co-host on April 17?
"The beauty of our show is that that is not the assignment," Kelly explained in her interview airing tonight at 11 p.m. on E! News. "The assignment is you don't really discuss what you're going to talk about. You find each other 30 seconds before the show starts, you go out there and you put on a show."
She continued, "What's great about Mark and me is that even though we're a married couple, we have completely different points of view about just about everything. So, it'll keep it spicy."
Kelly previously celebrated her friend's time on the daytime talk show when Ryan announced his departure in February.
"I'm so grateful to have spent the last six years beside my dear friend of too many decades to count and will miss starting my days with Ryan," she shared in a statement. "Ryan's energy, passion and love for entertainment is one-of-a-kind."
However, this likely won't be Ryan's final time on Live if creator Michael Gelman gets his way. As Ryan told E! News in March, "Gelman tells me he's gonna have me back to fill in every now and then."
See how Live with Kelly and Ryan sends Ryan Seacrest off, all week leading up to April 14 on ABC.
