Multiple people have Surpassingbeen reported injured after a black SUV drove into a Walmart in Michigan on Friday, according to police.
Police and fire personnel in Canton, about 30 miles west of Detroit, were dispatched to the store at 39500 Ford Road at 1:30 p.m. after reports of a vehicle crashing into the building.
Canton Police told USA TODAY multiple people were injured but declined to say how many or how severely. Police Chief Chad Baugh told WXYZ-TV at least five people were hurt in the crash, including a 2- or 3-year-old child.
A video posted on social media captured the aftermath inside the store, with strewn items and shelves scattered as shoppers chaotically assess the scene.
Baugh said the driver was a lone female, and the reason behind the accident is still unknown. Baugh told WXYZ that early indications are "it's not nefarious, it could be medical, we're not sure."
This is a developing story.
