It will be much tougher for the New York Jets to win their first Super Bowl since 1969 in the wake of Aaron Rodgers' suspected Achilles injury, according to the top online sportsbooks.
Almost immediately after Rodgers was carted off the field during the Jets' Monday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills, the ability for bettors to wager on the Jets was quashed. Everything from the Jets' chances of winning the AFC East to their Week 2 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys was collectively paused by many of the best NFL betting apps until the public learned more about Rodgers' injury.
When those wagers came back online − only after it was revealed the Jets suspected Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon − the top sports betting apps were much more pessimistic about the Jets' chances to find success in 2023.

The Jets were +5000 to win Super Bowl 58 after Rodgers' injury was announced, according to the BetMGM NFL odds. That mark was tied for the 10th-best Super Bowl odds through Week 1.

BetMGM had the Jets listed at +1800 to win it all as recently as Friday.
A few sportsbooks were even more bullish on the Jets this preseason. New York was a +1600 Super Bowl pick as early as August 7, according to the Caesars Sportsbook NFL odds. But those odds had ballooned to +3500 late Monday night.
Among other NFL future bets, the Jets also took a hit to their AFC East odds. The Jets entered Week 1 with the third-best odds to win the division − something they haven't done since 2002 − at +275 but fell to +500 after Rodgers' injury status was known, per BetMGM.
Rodgers also boasted some of the best NFL MVP odds coming into the season. Having already won the award four times, Rodgers was a +1600 choice to make it five MVP awards, according to the DraftKings Sportsbook NFL odds.
It appeared as though both DraftKings and BetMGM planned to refund wagers on Rodgers placed for the Week 1 game. Caesars said it planned to do the same. However, FanDuel Sportsbook did not indicate any plan to issue such refunds in a social media post Monday night.
